This is my latest oversized HHG Very Happy

I used a 1 off piece of Sunshine Aura Quartz with multiple points coming off it. The crystal I used is 60mm long
and this is the actual one I used -

I also used 5 Aqua Aura Quartz tumble stones
4 small Amethyst points
4 Clear Quartz points
Blue Kyanite

For the base I used 2 Green Aventurine stones
2 Bloodstone
2 Black Tourmaline
2 Hematite stones and a SBB coil placed at the centre

For the layered colours I used yellow, Light blue and violet Translucent pigment and Gold, Blue and Purple Holographic metallic flakes Very Happy

The mould is a 50cm tall Martini vase

This is my best piece so far :

Hope you enjoyed the images Very Happy
ON TO THE NEXT !!!! Very Happy

I enjoyed very much - thank you for sharing those photos.

That is a beautiful piece and I know must have been quite tricky to pour to get a large piece to come out that perfect - awesome job!

Jay79,
That's a very nice piece. You're one of many masters here on this board. Smile I always look forward to your pieces as well. You've also answered one of a question for me on how one of those crystals would look in a piece...

Thank you Lena, It was a bit tricky to pour and took me around 6 hours to complete without removing it from the mold.

There are a few cracks in it from where it got so hot when curing, I know for next time as I add more layers the less catalyst I use. It was quite warm yesterday when I was making it and the sun was shining too.

I look forward to making another one Very Happy

Nice x-tal.

When casting outside in the sun, the UV rays will help cure your mold faster than the chemical reaction.

Infrared too.
Another indispensible tool for me these days is a heat lamp suspended over my work on a double jointed drafting table lamp which allows a versatile placement of the light in all directions. If a cure is going slowly it can be accelerated with judicious placing of the light spot. With tricky pours I sometime use less catalyst and then fine tune the rate of curing using the heat lamp. If a pour is hardening in patches then the lamp can be directed to the colder areas to bring them up to speed. I use a heat lamp on just about every pour now.

Thank you for this. I was thinking about this awhile ago for layered pieces... Also up here in the NorthWest it's rather cold at times and moist...

Amazing colors, crystals and shape. Reminds me of the Gabriel's Horn geometric figure which has infinite surface area but a finite shape: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel%27s_Horn
