I was able to get some top end copper and brass recently, so I got enough to share.

Very helpful! I found a supplier in Wisconsin which sells oil-free copper chop but I am finding bits of green, blue or red plastic in it, most likely wire coating. Kind of disappointing to have to sit and pick those out first with a tweezers. Rolling Eyes

Edit: esp. when this stuff is billed as being intended for jewelry-making.

LOL - I have just realized that I will have to wash all the brass before we can send any out... cause I found something in that as well... like water based cutting fluid... Put it in ziploc bags last night and then saw the bags this morning... kinda gooey looking through it felt and looked dry...

I thought I'd share my new way of doing it that does not take forever...

I put some Dawn dish soap in some very hot water, dunk in the brass... then use a wooden spoon to swoosh it around. Once that is done I rinse it A LOT, put it all in a metal bowl and then into my dehydrator... Should be dry by this afternoon... after a few pokes here and there...

It does look a lot shinier after the wash... Wink

Cutting oil on metal used in orgonite is a never ending frustration for orgonite makers. Most notably when making multi level pours.

Washing oily metal is always worth the time.

Dish detergent and water wash.

Draining the rinse water. The container is tilted to let the water flow out of the metal.

Drying the metal in a dehydrator.

Since aluminum is easily worked without cuttiing oil, rinsing is often not an issue. But brass is usually oily and in need of a good cleaning.
