Please share methods of cleaning oils/dirt from metal shavings. My pouring is getting better but the metal iv been using has been leaking oil into the resin changing the color. Help is appreciated! Thanks.

I use brake cleaner to clean oil off of everything. You could soak your shavings in that stuff and they should come out pretty clean. Paint thinner might work too.

Water is heavier than oil as we already know(when mixing oil and water, oil starts to go up,above the water layer).Im always having oil at my metals because im getting them from my job(metalic construction factory)Im using a big bowl with very hot water, some food salt and dish washing soap.Im puting my metals in this for an hour and then in a strainer.Let the metals dry outside from Sunlight.

Peace.

What you don't want to do is put the metal and soapy water in a frying pan and boil it.

I did once and that was the rustiest mess I have ever seen.
