My creative juices have been flowing and so have my search for molds.

I've used stainless steel which works nicely. I've also used hard plastic and silicone.

can glass or cardboard be used? I saw a youtube video using both. one was making and HHG in a wine glass and one in a cone shaped birthday party hat. Those care cardboard. Wouldn't the resin stick to cardboard?

You have to wax the hell out of cardboard to keep it from sticking. I also use wax on metal molds.

Silicone works real well. Candy molds etc.

I did mess up my last batch though ... if you use a tad more hardener for epoxy and let it cure in strong sunshine, it might generate enough heat to bond and wreck the perfect smooth item you normally would get.

Saved one piece by placing in a preheated oven for a bit the next day. Seemed to help loosedn silicone. Opposite holds true for glass Razz

I have used glossy white tiles with limited success.

Finding cool shaped glass containers can be fun and rewarding too.

Best of luck!

Soon, you will be wandering through Goodwill stores, zombie like, staring at glassware and reversing the mold image in your mind.

I'm pretty sure that someone using a party hat isn't going to take it out of it when the piece is done. Maybe they will paint it an earthy color and just toss it into the grass near a target so it's less likely to be found. It's just a convenient shape for making an hhg when it's the only mold available.

ive been doing that online. ive been afraid to mold in glass thinking about how hard it would be to get it out. also i saw a video using cardboard party hats but i was afraid to use them thinking the cardboard would stick to the resin.

ive used hard plastic for a cube. it was fine to get it out the first time. the second time, not so much luck. i think using coconut oil for lube wasn't enough.

i used some silicone keychain molds..omg it was death trying to get those suckers out.
