Nature produces Silica in the form of sand and Quartz Crystal. I've been taking a Liquid Silica supplement to help rebuild the bone I lost from Arsenic Poisoning. Staring at my bottle of Liquid Silica, I had a thought.

If quartz crystal is basically Silica, and quartz produces a piezoelectric charge when compressed, would the same effect happen if you compress Liquid Silica??

It would be a test worth doing, if you can add some Liquid Silica to your resin mixture. Not sure how this would effect the hardening process of the resin, but if the silica mixes and becomes compressed, you basically have a liquid crystal matrix inside your orognite.

Just an idea!

I expect that would depend on whether the silica is in the form of a-silica (amorphous , non crystalline) or c-silica , the crystalline form.

Not sure what kind of Silica is most abundant in my supplement, but it says "Natural Geothermal Silica" and from what I just read they harvest it from the inner walls of the Geothermal Energy Plants in Iceland. It's a natural byproduct that results from the buildup of Silica in geothermal brine water.

Concerning the type of SIlica harvested from the Geothermal Plants:

"The mineral with the highest concentration in geothermal water in Iceland is silica or silicon dioxide. Typical silica concentrations in geothermal fluids in Iceland are between 0,6 and 1,2 grams per litre. The hot geothermal fluid dissolves both amorphous (opals) and crystalline (quartz) forms of the rock mineral at great depths and pressures, and at the high temperatures the silica exists in its water dissolved state as silicic acid."

I'm guessing that C-Silica would be necessary to get the piezoelectric charge? If this is even possible....

"The distinguishing feature of crystalline and amorphous silica is that you can take any portion of it and see the whole in the crystalline form but with a non repeating pattern, you can't do that in its amorphous form.

Some short-range orderliness may exist, but no predictable order extends over whole range of the amorphous form. Chemists call this the glassy state."
