I tried putting a decal on once and it was a disaster and ended up spoiling my pyramid. I was using black iron oxide mixed with my resin in that area but the black was able to get in front of the decal messing it up so I pulled it off and of course ruined the finish on the piece. I will try to recast it because it is so pretty. All I can think of trying next time is dipping the pealed off decal it into the resin and placing it where I want it to go on the mold and let it harden. After that maybe I can just do the different layers without messing it up. Am I on the right track or is there a much better way to do it?

When I cast transparencies I like to do a clear layer first, let it almost harden and then put another layer with the picture in a very thin layer - once that is cured you can go crazy with the rest of the piece Smile

It's called flower of life. I am hoping I can take it off of the clear plastic backing without hurting it. I've seen it on some pieces of organite and always admired it. I just don't want to ruin another decal and the piece that I would be casting.

Lena, I guess I really don't understand what you mean. I am wanting the background to be a dark color so the copper color will stand out.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear... apologies...

I have tried casting stickers... but if the piece cures hot... they can melt and look funky depending on the plastic used... but is doable with a cold pour with very little catalyst that will cure over days.

I found that I like using transparencies - the kind of heat proof plastic that you can print on that you would use to make presentations with an overhead projector. They print really nice with a color printer Smile

Tried to dig out an old photo of an FOL I did with a transparency, got it (Had to go back to 2011... lol):

That larger piece on the left is a FOL printed on a transparency. First I did a clear layer in the glass, then another layer that I placed the "sticker" in to with a thin layer of clear resin. Once that has cured or at least gelled you can carry on with the rest of the pour without risking the later layers running down.

Happy pouring Smile

Thank you for showing me your decal piece. Very pretty. The sticker that I am using is made of copper so it won't melt. It is very thin though. I'm planning on putting it on the inside wall of the pyramid. I haven't made many pretty things because I started only gifting a long time ago and then stopped because I was busy painting and making glass things. I have missed making organite so thought I would do it again both gifting and pretty things to sell. Such a good thing to do. I appreciate your help.

I recently got some MWO/golden ratio PCBs manufactured cheap in a Chinese factory. If I do the same with the FoL would you like me to post it here or contact you?
