With any form of community, there eventually comes a point when certain questions and answers are repeated. The online communities first resolved the extraneous traffic by compiling FAQs (frequently asked questions). As forums became more prevalent, repeated topics became "stickys" that stay at the top of the first page.

The problem with FAQ's is they need constant attention from an individual or assigned group and forum topics can be pages long with topic twists and turns. The latest development to solve both inadequacies is the Wiki's - a community written websites. Multiple authors, even the general public, can update content using only a web browser and the nature of the Wiki makes it easy to be organized and navigatable.

My question is "could WM benefit from a Wiki"? It may not be an issue of WM adding on a Wiki, but perhaps another website that is solely a Wiki. The only problem with a Wiki on the topics discussed here at WM and other orgone related sites is disinformation, misinformation, speculation, and ramblings. To solve this, members could be allowed by invitation only, such as how EW functions. The idea is to minimize redundancy while providing a definitive repository of information that is easily navigatable, accurate and written by reputable authors. I haven't seen anyone else pose this question, so I think it merits discussion to see if it is something that would be useful to the world.

if it becomes disinformation then close it down again.

I will suggest using mediawiki.

If Sensei decides it is a good idea I see no reason why we couldn't implement one. The only thing is that it would have to be severely moderated to keep out disinfo.
FYI
A wiki is like an encyclopedia except that it's topics and info can be updated and expanded on by a community. For an example, let's say I create a topic called "Orgonite" and I put in the description everything I know about orgonite. It will not be that informative because I have only the knowledge gained from my work here. But then someone else comes by and expands on what I wrote to make it a full and concise explanation of the term "orgonite."

I hope that is clear enough for those who don't know, if not there is a wiki topic on wikis I am sure. Just Google it.

Would that mean that if this is implemented, people could go through and change my posts without the proper authority (in my mind), to do so? If this is so, I'm not so sure that I would be game for that. If you are just talking about making the FAQ tab, located on the left side of the top link bar, than I would be cool with that. I just don't want to have that take over people's posts on the forums. Seems like that could cause some frictions. I don't know much of anything about this, so I don't know how it would affect the forum.

Just my thoughts,

Ned Walsh

No Wiki for Warriormatrix at this time.
Thank you for your suggestions. Perhaps at a later date.
