Bugleboy,

I dont have a website, but have some pictures that I really want to get up loaded onto the board. Is it possible to email them to myself and so long as I save them in my keep mail, to post them on the board and have them work?

If the email thing wont work, could you post me on how I could get the pics up somehow. BTW, the only internet I have access to is at work (time permitting) and over at my moms on the weekends.

Thanks,

Justin

Justin,

I upload my photos to a website and cross reference it here in posts. Although I use www.flickr.com because it is free, it does have limitations in filesize and monthly upload bandwidth restrictions.

Renewing this thread since I'm recently experiencing some difficulty getting my photos to appear in-line.

I too have been using Flickr.com to host my photos. In a past thread (found at this url - http://www.warriormatrix.com/viewtopic.php?t=849), I was able to get some photos to appear in-line in the warriormatrix forum. It took quite a bit of jockying around as I still do not quite understand the logic behind the following command instructions:

Insert image: [img]http://image_url[/img] (alt+p)

I sort of get the idea that the A L T - P command is an alternative to pre-fixing and suffixing the image url with [ i m g ] and [ / i m g] commands respectively...... but I can't get consistent results so I'm still a bit stumped on this.

Since this older post, I'm once again unable to get photos to reliably appear in-line in the forum. I'm not sure if this is due to perhaps some changes having been made at the hosting site, or some changes to the warriormatrix forum editor.... maybe a combination of both?

I thought there once was an explanation in the Tech Section here but my memory is a little foggy now having just completed a relocation to a new residence. Meanwhile, I have found a way to sort of get the same job accomplished with photos by doing the following: if I type the image url into the body of my post, then highlight it, then press ALT-P, this command does something to the post so that when the post is viewed, there is a clickable web link that in fact does take one to the intended photo.

I'll be happy if anyone can show me where I'm making a mistake in getting photos to appear in-line.

Thanks.

The post uses "BBCODE" which is a form of markup language invented for use on bulletin boards where it would not be wise to allow straight html posts, which can cause undesired results.

That said, the HTML code for an image looks like this (spaces added to prevent formatting):
< img src=http://link.to/someimage .jpg >

the same image in BBCODE (again the spaces):

[ img ] http:// link.to/someimage .jpg [ /img ]

There is an opening tag that lets the browser know that the image link is next, then there is a closing tag to let the browser know you are done with the link. And that is really all there is to it.

Let me know if this helps.

thanks Scott. As it turns out my particular problem was the result of having failed to notice that, for whatever reason, flickr now adds some extra characters after the .JPG extension for file names of photos they archive. Once Terry pointed this out to me I no longer have this problem. And of course once one gets somethign working, through repetition it becomes a lot easier to understand and explain it, so now when I add images, I cutNpaste the flickr url into the forum editor, remove the junk at the end, highlight it and just click IMG and it all works easily.

Thanks.
