New member here, although I have lurked for a couple weeks and read a couple hundred threads. Great information and pics! Really helpful for my new hobby.

Uploading my CB pics and my first HHG. Will polish up yesterday's pendant and get some of that too.

Fairly proud of that one. Central oval rainbow moonstone, bismuth, blue kyanite needles with ground quartz, and a point in behind the moonstone.

Mainly just saying Hi, and seeing if anyone hails from this neck of the woods Smile

Take care ❤

Matt

PS: My journey to make a CB was driven by the recent events unfolding in our skies. Used to have 300+ days of sunshine and blue skies per year. We have low population density, so perhaps there was less interest in our area ... although I have heard this is a nexus for some strong energy / spirituality. Instead of getting angry and cursing the pilots and cabal, I decided to channel some positive, creative energies to offset these illegal clandestine operations I witness daily.

Hi Lena, thanks Smile

A machine shop gave me 4 gallons of aluminum shavings. Planning on making a nice pyramid for them.

Grabbed iron oxide from a pottery supply shop. Still working on getting some brass for the tip.

Made some molds with 3 smooth tiles siliconed and reinforced with duct tape ... but I'm noticing that 45 degree angles may not be the norm. Any comments on slope Lena? Presume there's been many tests here.

Have a great day!

Matt

Welcome! IMO you nailed it on that HHG Very Happy

When it comes to metal powders, pottery shops are the best. I like the red and yellow iron oxides too. Does yours have other powder glazes? Mason colors make some great ones.

Hi Ruth, and thanks for the compliment. Gifted that HHG for Mother's day on the weekend.

Have materials for 3 more plus some pendant / pocket orgonite craftin'

Only picked up black iron so far, thought it would go great with some 24k leaf and powdered quartz + selenite blend. Had a crazy idea to mix black+gold for 1st layer with quartz point, then pour clear with crystalline powder as induction, then top off with more of the first iron/gold resin.

Might get tricky on pendant scale, and require multiple mix/rest periods. 3cm x 4cm oval silicone mold...

Cheers,

Matt

Don't think the gold would show if mixed with the black. Test with some brass and see- shame to waste the beauty of the gold, but you'd still have the function, of course Very Happy

Very good call to make a test pendant, thanks Smile

I've seen something similar on etsy for pyramids, but I'm unsure how they tinted the epoxy black

Obviously I wanted the colour and the properties of iron in the mix

I've been experimenting with Mica powders. This is the best method I have found to add color and mica naturally sparkles! I'm not sure if mica does anything to the overall effect where iron oxides do. I often add mica to layers that have shavings.
