I was reading some poetry I'm thinking about sharing and was wondering- if I wanted to buy a real japanese-made samurai sword, a katana, where would I go to buy such a sword that I know was made by a real Japanese dude in a forge making me a quality, traditionally-made weapon? A good katana will run you a couple grand real easy, so what would you buy first: an AR or AK, or a katana? I'd like to have a katana fer sure. I'm a Texan & we believe in being armed to the teeth at all times, but I ain't got no katana. Man, I wish I had a katana.

Anybody here got a recommendation on where to buy a REAL Japanese made katana other Google hope n pray? It doesnt have to be a Vittorio Honzo sword but NO, it's NOT the same if it's from China...

Here's my poem that has no rhyme scheme:

Suppose a fearless warrior encounters brigands; fearlessly he brandishes his sword and advances so the brigands all scatter. Once the warrior's achievement is established, his honor and his pension continue for the rest of his life. Now if poverty or illness trouble you, then they are brigands. If you have an upright mind, THAT is the courageous warrior. Intelligent contemplation is brandishing a sword. When troubles dissolve and disappear, then the battle is won. Profound calm and eternal happiness are the honor and the pension.

Don't get romantic about where your first blade is forged. Go cheap and practical. Disposable. You will find a short sword much more practical. Especially indoors. More especially when lacking in formal training.

An everyday carry. Get a $100 carbon steel wakazashi. A short sword.

The ability to easily conceal a sword outweighs it's length...many times. (Read preceding sentence again.)

Here is a very practical one.

Get two. One for cutting practice (killer watermelons lurking everywhere these days) and the other for more formal affairs...under the car seat or between your back and your shirt (and securing elastic bandage).

A different approach that will give you much less trouble with the law and much more control of how much damage that you do.

Cold Steel bokken :

Polypropylene... nearly indestructible.

Yessss! A full tang samurai sword I can afford. Thank you, sir. I DO need one of those things. ASAP. But I need to order 5 more gallons of Silmar 41 immediately, some neodymium magnets, a whole bunch of speaker wire, more crystals from you, n a couple other things from eBay. I'm too 'po rite now. But I AM going to get at least one of those swords sometime soon.

How can I not get romantic about swords, we are grail questing here. At least I am, if anybody knows what that means. The Grail favors those who seek enlightenment against all odds.

Martial arts are more of a thing for practitioners of the Tao. Using swords is smthng they don't usually teach until after u get a black belt, in tae kwon do anyway. Ive always been more of a yoga n meditation guy, but thats awesome you use swords. How do you, like, learn to use them- youtube videos or what kind of martial arts school would I walk into where somebody's going to teach me how to use a sword?

Abody else watch TWD, that chick w/ the katana is hot, right?

Thank you, sir. I ought to do that. Tae Kwon do is too hard for American people bc it requires the use of a certain groin muscle we don't even have a word for called a don-John. That's how it's pronounced anyway. I was trying to learn how to walk on my hands from a Korean acrobat who idiolized bruce lee that was trying to teach me to connect upper body n lower body muscles into one long muscle from top of head to bottom of toes n i saw that 120 lbs Korean leg press 14 (45 lb) bars n he could've done two more easy if we hadn't gotten kicked out that day bc that la fitness didn't take kindly to us practicing handstands on their racquet ball benches. Karate is easier for white people. They start teaching that stuff to Chinese kids again age 8 n I've seen pictures of Chinese soldiers whirling 18 wheel tires over their heads using that muscle. That's a lie. I never saw it, but I heard about it. I saw my teacher go from full lotus posture, lifting his legs over his head backwards as he raised lower body off the ground w/ arms, straight into a full hand stand. I can do a head stand, but I injured my wrist trying to learn a hand stand. You gotta teach that stuff to kids when their tendons are more flexible n body weight lower, but if u teach a kid how to walk on his hands & sit in full lotus posture before his cartilage hardens up, he'll be a bad ass his whole life.

Kendo, eh. Right on. I ought to do let n i just might. Thank you again for giving me smthng to think about. I am a big believer in always carrying a blade.
