Pre-resining quartz then adding that = more compression?

As we know, resin presses only so much, what would happen if you made little resin pebbles of your quartz crystals and then add those already cured quartz pebbles into your new orgonite mix? Would that provide extra compression on the crystal? I mean, the crystal is being compressed by the original resin surrounding it and then the orgonite's resin will compress against that right?

Good question. I believe that the extra activity I sense in double cast pieces has more to do with the induction design than the extra compression. Try making a couple of pieces for comparison, using the same ingredients.

It's called double casting. The way you describe it, it would be a double cast induction style TB- like my icon. It has advantages and disadvantages. Advantage- feels livelier, more active. Disadvantage- not as tough. Some of my outdoor pieces have tended to delaminate after a few seasons. Now if I want to make a double cast piece designed to go,for instance, into the ocean, I make sure that the precast crystals (transformer) are completely surrounded by the metal matrix (accumulator).

All the personal pieces I have made for the Human Gifting Project in the last few years have used variations on this design.

I will definitely be working on pieces that have multiple induction layers. (pyramids especially)

Do I need an insulated wire looping between the layers? University was too long ago now.

So that's what your profile pic is! I see sushi every time :p

I developed that induction version myself. Starseed developed his. I searched the forum for "induction" and read all the posts- took a while- and then integrated the information with my own perceptions. Then I experimented with several variations. My icon is actually a midrange version. I don't take pix or post them, but Lena- bless her!- has taken a few for me. I'll post a link or two with a later version, which uses both the brown resin (as here) and the clear.
