This is what Surfboard Casting Resin or rather Resin with Wax in it looks like...

I won't say this is the best work, but I did learn something here... I could've used a bit more cowbell. Smile For those of you that get that joke. "Don't Fear the Reaper." Very Happy In all seriousness, I could've used more metal, but I think these will do nicely in water gifting and in this area I live in where it's damp and rainy. They also have a nice kind of camouflaged look to them in an odd way. Inside of these are brass filings at the top, then a mixture of aluminum and iron. I added some silica sand to these for a boost as I had some, and the quartz crystal is in the center toward the top. These were cured with 528hz, and under partly cloudy skies with a forecast of rain. I also had the PW nearby. Smile

I may continue to use this resin as it's on sale near here at $30 a gallon with MEKP catalyst, but not too sure yet. Time will tell if this resin is worthy. I think I prefer the kind that Sensei and Lena use for TBs.

I did drop a few and they do have some nice anti-breakage qualities.

I prefer sm41 clear casting resin now, but I used a lot of surf board resin when I first started pouring orgonite, it works well, and is available locally. I have noticed that surf board resin will discolor over time more so than sm41 will.

Anything with wax in it is likely to break down more quickly if buried in the ground. Does this resin shrink much?

I plan to water gift these, I think the next batch of resin, may not be these... Now that you mention it breaking down. There are a lot of towers that need some attention. Smile From what I can feel it does so far, either that or I'm getting better at reading energy. Razz

This looks a lot like the 3M, but more opaque. Does it harden well in cool weather? The 3m is 36.00 a gal here, so it does save 6.00 a gal, which could be signifigant for large scale pouring.

I love the Sylmar 41, but shipping to the west coast drives the price up around 50.00 a gal with the regular ammount of cayalyst. I always ask for double catalyst now after having to place separate orders for it when I run out, since more is needed for small pours like pendants and pocket pieces and in colder weather.

Has anyone gifted U.S. Composites?

May I ask where you go for 3M? It hardens ok. I did 1 tsp for a cup worth and used about 6 cups of resin. So, I did make a bit too much. I do see I should've used a bit more metal. I think someone should gift US Composites, as perhaps this would drive the price of resin down. Mr. Green

I buy mine in the paint department at Lowe's. Walmart and Home Depot don't carry it, and neither does my local Tru-Value hardware store. They do have the Bondo brand designed for auto body work in the automotive dept. Reading labels, 3M makes the bondo brand- did you know?

I actually prefer the Elmer's resin that Lowe's used to carry at the same price, which was a lovely translucent amber. I think they've stopped making it. The 3M really is the best for cold water pouring, at least it's the most reliable that I've found.

Getting the quantities right is tricky- I hope you had some extra molds for your excess? I usually figure a dozen small muffins (3 oz each) per quart, half a dozen large muffins (6 oz each) per qt. Then I have a mini mold (1 oz each) ready for any leftover resin Very Happy

Metric is SO much easier to figure quantities, but my brain works in teaspoons, ounces, cups, and quarts! The math gets complicated! 100 drops per teaspoon. 3 teaspoons per tablespoon. 4 tablespoons per 1/4 cup. 2 ounces per 1/4 cup.

It does get easier with practice Very Happy
