So a guy on facebook who says he's been making orgonite for 10 years told me that he uses a bioresin from ENTROPY RESINS that's based on tree sap, and swears that the shrink factor is plenty to satisfy piezoelectric needs. Anybody heard of or used this stuff? The MSDS certainly does make it look less toxic than Silmar. It's also like 3x as expensive, but it may be worth if it this guy is right. I guess I always just figured that if nobody on WM had found a decent bioresin, then it must not exist. Hmmmmm......

A lovely idea, but for the production pourer it just won't work. For instance, 32 ounces of the resin is $48.00 dollars. That would pour about 12 of my TB's. That means I would have to charge over $100.00 for 12 Tb's. There are not many people who would pay that. Skateboard manufacturers on the other hand use relatively less resin per unit of what they make, so the added expense would be more tolerable. That is why the resin is pointedly marketed to industries like that which are using the resins for lamination.

Yeah, I see your point. I think this resin, however, could be reserved for small personal pieces, and would go a long way in that regard. If you order 1.5 gallons, it's only $150, which gets you roughly twice as much for your money as $48 for 32 oz. I might have to get a small amount and try making some little pieces with it and holler back...

Certainly for personal use it would be great. I do note that a curing temperature of 100-180F is specified for total cure. There would have to be supplemental heat in most situations.

Haha, I wish that supplemental heat were required for me! I'm in Austin and it's pretty much 100 at like 8:00 at night even. Anywho, I just placed an order for a 16 oz bottle, so I'll post back with the results. So many people have requested bioresin that I've gotta at least try it out.

Okay, so here's the reply from the company when I asked them about the shrink factor:

"Sorry our resins have an extremely low shrinkage factor (<1%). This is primarily due to the fact that our resins are 100% solids so there are no solvents. I assume there fiberglass resin you are referring to is polyester resin that can have a high shrinkage due to loss of solvent. Let me know if you have further questions."

So...always take what you hear from a veteran orgonite maker with a grain of salt. I did already order a small bottle, though, so I will still attempt making some with it and see what sensations it produces, just for the sake of testing the piezo theory. Make 1% shrinkage is enough, who knows? Only one way to find out. Also, double casting might be an option, if it would make people feel better to have the bioresin against the skin...

So I finally got the bioresin in and I made a little TB with one last night. I'm just now getting a chance to play with it and the consensus seems to be that it is in fact legitimate Orgonite!!! Definitely feeling it. Now the only question is: is it less potent because of the reduced shrink factor? I think I'll do a blind comparison between a silmar based piece and one of these with the exact same ingredients, and report back. Also, the reduced smell right out of the mold is a definite plus.

Oh, and here's the pic. Contents are: a 1" quartz point, lemurian quartz powder, petalite, copper powder, iron oxide powder, BBs, and copper wire.

Is there anymore information out there on this bio resin topic? I also learned of this on Facebook through a page called Orgon Power. I'm actually self extracting the resin as I think it's a great way to honor the trees we have by making something that is of the trees to construct a way for humanity to get out of the blame game mentality by believing their is a device that can get rid of negative energy. I believe that it will be much easier to convince everyone if it's made of only natural earth ingredients. Anyways I would like to know if there's anymore information out there in construction of bio resin Orgonites ?

Here is a post from years ago about using Hemp resin.

Perhaps the technology has improved since this was posted.

Polyester resin is also made from the "earth," but in a more roundabout way. It is made from hydrocarbons derived from ancient swamps, dead dinosaurs, etc refined under heat and pressure for millions of years.
