This may be a bit of a newb question, but I thought I'd check. Recently given a big box of crystals from a collector. One of the clear quartz pieces he positively identified as a lemurian, but this hunk of amethyst has a bunch of the striations often associated with lemurians. I gather that not all striated crystals are lemurian?

I've been doing some light reading around other parts of the internet, and (not surprisingly) found that lemurian quartz comes in many forms and colors and that (according to what I read) amethyst can indeed be lemurian.

I know what you old-timers are saying: "Of course a lemurian crystal can be an amethyst! Did you just fall off the turnip truck?"

Well, yes. More or less Smile I've been pouring orgonite for about a year but I took the advice found here and stuck to the very basics, getting quartz from Lena and Dennis and doing simple recipes. But I've never done any further research on crystals in general and my ignorance is profound. I got so used to simply coming here for info, that my ability to Google any orgonite-related topic seems to have atrophied Wink

So, that still makes me wonder if the physical striations on this amethyst make it a shoe-in for a lemurian or if it is just a striated piece of amethyst. This is pure curiosity since I don't know that I would necessarily treat it differently in terms of orgonite planning.

That box of crystals is sweet.

Do you ever spend time just holding the crystals? For me Lemurians just have a distinctive feel. Icy. Cold as truth. Most Brazilians have a similar feel, but it's not nearly as strong. Physically, they come from Brazil, from one particular mine, and are found in sand, not in one of the usual stony pockets.

That amethyst with the striations is really interesting. They look like they may be access points (keys).

Hi Ruth,

I've definitely spent some time handling them, but my experience so far is that I'm not very consciously sensitive to energy--at least not in a specific way. Generally I can tell if something feels "yucky" vs. "good", but that's about it. I took all of the crystals in my possession and gave them a salt water bath, and as I had them drying on the kitchen table I felt compelled to come in an stand looking at them. I felt a magnetism. I feel that with orgonite that I make. I've heard other forum members talk about very specific impressions that they get from different orgonite, depending upon the ingredients, but I've never gotten that type of reaction when I look a them. I just like to pick them up and hold them and take that as a good sign. But to be fair I've never spent time cultivating my energetic pallet, so to speak. Just as a person can learn to distinguish different wines, I'm sure with time I could develop a better feel for the nuances.

However, my wife is much more aware of energetics, as are some friends, and when I showed them orgonite pieces they reacted instantly (and positively). Typically with a "Wow!"

I'm going to follow your suggestion, however, and spend some time tuning into these as individuals (as opposed to a huge box sitting right next to me). Bunch of phenacite in there as well, which my friend said was very powerful for him.

A quick addendum to my previous post:

Apparently, just because you read something on the internet doesn't mean that it's true! That came as a bit of a shock, I confess...

I heard from another friend familiar with crystals, and was told that lemurians have to be clear (not colored). I saw lots of images of "lemurians" on other sites that were of various colors (all quartz, of course). This friend says, "no, not true lemurians".

He also said that the significance of lemurians over other crystals is greatly exaggerated by marketing hype. It has become a buzz word that sells crystals (which I've heard elsewhere on this forum) so that clouds the issue to some degree.

Anyway, I found this interesting. Lots of different opinions on the subject.

That is a beautiful, top end amethyst crystal ! Amethyst is technically quartz, with some trace elements.

Often they are found in geodes,

some quite large.

Lemurians are graded on, among other factors, transparency. Some lower end are cloudy, but still From the same mine.

AAA Lemurians that are polished are almost lens like in clarity.

Since polishing erases the striations, it is rarely done. This crystal was among the first to be brought to the US years ago before their properties were appreciated. A few boxes of were completely polished. They glow in their clarity.

Ruth, I felt the same thing.

When I rode a Yamaha 400 Special through these mountain hollows, I would hit a patch of cool fragrance, a gentle breeze drifting down the hill.

Before it even arrived, I could just think about the Lemurian I ordered from Dennis and Lena, and got the same effect.

There was one branch of the mine in Minas Gerais where a vein of orangish crystals were found. They came to be known as "Golden Healers". You gotta give it to the marketing department, it does sound better than "orange rock".

Yes, Lemurian has been turned into a buzz word for crystals and devices that are not.

Same grade crystal, polished and natural.

This mine is very strange.

The crystals are usually loose, stacked in banks of sand and clay.

They mine them with a high pressure water hose and wash away the sand and the crystals collapse together.

My pet theory is that a large amount of these particular crystals were gathered or growing together when a great flood
washed them into this formation.

There are some few, impressive Lemurians (i.e.. Exhibiting the striated lines and peculiar molecular structure of the Muzo Growth Habit structured quartz) coming from a mine in Colombia , South America, a mine in Russia, and some from Arkansas. Lemurians usually ping at a high pitch when gently struck a bit like a tuning fork.

An amethyst Lemurian would look more likely more like this in shape.

I have one here somewhere, I will take a look for it.

Wow! Great pics Sensei! Those geodes are amazing.

I particularly like the quartz with the phantom sheep inside of it--I understand those are extremely rare! You really scored. I've only seen the cheaper, more common version with the phantom chicken inside. Razz

Great photos of the mine, as well. Nice to see them in their natural environment.

I'd love to see an amethyst lemurian if you have one.

When at a crystal show, an entire box of huge, top quality Lemurians was dropped and shattered beyond repair. A tragedy was turned into...

...Something Wonderful.

The broken crystals were cut into hearts.

This one is called "The Heart of Lemuria".

It was cut from a shattered Phantom Lemurian Crystal. Look closely and you can see the holographic duplicate of the crystal, inside of the crystal heart .
